Recently switched my main browser back from Edge to Helium. I thought I liked vertical tabs, but what I actually wanted was a minimal UI and maximum working space.

This release is all about daily driver polish. Fullscreen feels solid, window restore is reliable across monitors, and a bunch of small workflow annoyances are gone.

• Fullscreen is smoother with less flicker. Padding, tab bar, and split rendering stay correct
• Window restore now persists size and position, and restores correctly across multiple displays
• Finder and default terminal support. Open in Kaku from Finder, and set Kaku as the system default terminal

My workflow in Kaku
Left pane is my AI coding entry. On the right I keep two vertical splits: one for dev commands and debug runs, one for reviews and diffs. Tabs are one project per tab so it never gets messy, and I stay on shortcuts most of the time.

Kaku 的 brew 名字是 tw93/tap/kaku，但更新时非常容易检测到一个同名的音乐软件 kaku，且已经不维护被标记 deprecated，想着给官方 PR 反馈是否可更换，居然官方同学是 Mole 和 Pake 的用户，还 Sponsor 过我。
更名要等 12 个月，现在大伙先将就用 kakuku 这个有意思的名字好了。

I started this while building Pake. I wanted a terminal that feels truly fast on macOS. That feeling got stronger during Mole. I tried everything: Alacritty is snappy but has no tabs. Ghostty’s font rendering never matched my taste. Warp requires a login. Kitty is powerful, but window management kept biting me.
Then I found WezTerm. It’s Rust-based and hackable, so I went in: removed a lot of legacy/compat modules, tightened the loading path, tuned macOS rendering, and baked in the small things I use every day.
The goal is simple: Alacritty-like speed with native tabs and splits. Built for AI coding. One pane for Claude Code, one for review, git diff at the bottom. Stay in flow.
A friend complained about terminals over dinner. I said “try mine.” I packaged it up and named it Kaku, Japanese, quick to say: Kaku Kaku Kaku Kaku.
It’s not fully mature yet, but I’ve daily-driven it for 6 months. No config needed. Try the shortcuts. File bugs when you find them.

This morning I downloaded the ChatGPT Codex mac app with high expectations. The official video looked great, and I’ve always liked OpenAI’s product interactions, but after a deeper try the experience felt average, and I ended up uninstalling it with Mole. Compared to Claude Code CLI, the gap is still obvious.
I’ve seen many people argue that in AI coding, GUI will eventually beat TUI.
I see it the other way.
For professional developers, I believe TUI will dominate. Workflows like Claude Code, where everything is shell and everything is a command, make complex tasks easier to handle, keep code simpler, and make maintenance, iteration, and debugging much more straightforward. I still believe the future of serious AI coding belongs to TUI.
I recently found a handy tool for SVG work: SVG Viewer. It’s an in-browser editor where you paste an SVG, tweak the code, and see a live preview instantly. It also ships the essentials you actually need day to day: Optimize to shrink and clean up the SVG, Prettify to format it, quick transforms like rotate and flip, and exports for React, React Native, PNG, and Data URI.
What I like most is how frictionless it is for quick edits. If you need to adjust text, colors, or small details inside an SVG, it’s often faster than opening a full design tool. Paste, edit, optimize, export, done.
